Ign Article about Drew Karphshyn No doubt most will want to skip over that as it gives IGN page visitors but the point of it is that he left half way through ME2. Drew’s blog post about it is undernearth the IGN Link.
He also seems to back track on the original endings in his current blog post. Also mentioning that Organics vs Synthetics was a key element. There is no way for sure to know what goes on behind the scenes at Bioware so anything I say should probably be interpreted as Speculation but the crux of it is that you can’t really go against the corporate message. He Mentions that Mac Walters was indeed his second in command and that he replaced Drew when he left. I am of the opinion that he is supporting them on this point as if you read the Strategy Informer post he says something different.
An interesting point is Cerberus in the first game is a back plot element which evolved into a major element of ME2 which was not intentional including the creation of the illusive man.

Now the interesting article is this one:
http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/17086/mass-effect-writer-drew-karpyshyn-reveals-original-mass-effect-3-endings
which says this: -----------------------
The Dark Energy was a force that was going to consume everything. According to Karpyshyn, "The Reapers as a whole were 'nations' of people who had fused together in the most horrific way possible to help find a way to stop the spread of the Dark Energy. The real reason for the Human Reaper was supposed to be the Reapers saving throw because they had run out of time. Humanity in Mass Effect is supposedly unique because of its genetic diversity and represented the universe's best chance at stopping Dark Energy's spread."
The original choice was between killing the Reapers and trying to find a way to stop the Dark Energy threat with what little time was left before it consumed the galaxy, or, "Sacrifice humanity, allowing them to be horrifically processed in hopes that the end result will justify the means."
This still doesn't change the main sticking point of fans: all of the recruitment, all of the alliances, all of the sacrifices, were essentially moot because they essentially were inconsequential to the resolution.
----------------------------------------------------
I suppose a bone of contention with me is that they didn’t carry on this story. I’m not sure if I would’ve accepted the ending as I didn't with the God Child one but hey I will never know.
The main thing about the Mass Effect Series is the richness and diversity, you can make of it what you will hence some of my earlier outbursts. Everyone reads something different into the series taking out different elements be it the focus on love interests. The Alliances you build, the popularity of Wrex even though to me he was more Renegade than a Paragon type Character, defending religious freedoms of the Jellyfish and their enkindlers.
I am slightly worried about the God Child still and the Adam and Eve ending just being a step too far with the religious overtones. It mimics reality in the current backlash against Atheists which has seen a massive surge of propaganda.
If you read Dawkins books or Hitchens ones you usually find that they have well constructed arguments, some of the stuff in the press has just been downright offensive.
I digress though. The main point is that it is secular Shepard stays away for the most part of taking a religious tone in ME1 and ME2 and defends the right of others for the most part which is what one should do. I suppose personally I am very unhappy with some of the comments Shepard says in light of the ending. Originally it just niggled at me, currently it really bothers me as I don’t recall there was anything like it in other games (if you prove me wrong I will retract this statement i.e with a quote)
Yes there have been religious overtones you can see that with Drell and Asari.
However for the Asari it is mainly just manipulation from the Protheans, as was the Jellyfish, thought they were not an important plan for the future that the Prothean prepared and I don’t really know why they revere the Enkindlers so much. Though it shows that a supreme being could just be someone who knows more has more technology. Case in point on this one
The Drell seem to be a species who were not very advanced but very religious and they kept that belief even after they were rescued by the Hanar.

Now the interesting thing for me is that Dark Energy is a real theory a lot of famous Scientists had some take on it including Einstein though this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be spot on as a plot element but to me it was the basis of a scientific founded ending which would’ve also answered a lot of other questions. The Christian overtones currently inhabiting the current God Child Ending are not going to be completely religious which is similar to the idea of taking an existing scientific theory and using it as a plot element – it won’t be the same but it is still founded in it. Anyway the God Ending to me showed some very Christian themes such as Sacrifice repentance salvation, Joker & Evi, Adam and Eve thing. I don’t mean to say you can’t have them I just mean to say they are currently very strong and also I can’t see for the life of me what the hell they have to do with anything else in the game.

Somewhat I feel that Mass Effect mimics reality and is a representation of it – having a god child just seems like a departure to me but as I stated before this is what I read into it but what do you all see?
(Currently I am of the opinion that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters changed the ending to visit their own beliefs though I’m probably wrong and its more than Religion is so dominant in our society that you can’t help dropping it in even though its nonsense, yes you have a right to practise it doesn’t mean I respect it kekeke)
Still like Strategy informer says it doesn’t answer Gamers real problem with the ending. Lack of diversity and choice which I think is because we all saw something else in it.
